Dr. Sebi

Dr. Sebi, whose full name was Alfredo Darrington Bowman, was a Honduran herbalist and healer who developed a unique approach to health and wellness. He promoted a plant-based diet and the use of natural remedies to treat various health conditions. He cured a wide range of illnesses, including cancer, AIDS, and diabetes, through his unique approach to healing. His teachings focused on the idea that the human body is designed to heal itself when given the right conditions, including a healthy diet and natural remedies.

Dr. Sebi’s approach to healing was based on his understanding that all disease is caused by an accumulation of mucus in the body, which can be eliminated by following a strict diet of alkaline, plant-based foods. He also promoted the use of natural herbs and supplements to support the body’s natural healing process. One of the key components of Dr. Sebi’s approach to healing was his emphasis on following a strict, plant-based diet. He believed that consuming certain foods (alkaline plant foods and natural alkaline herbs), and avoiding others could help to eliminate mucus from the body and promote healing.

Early Life

Dr. Sebi was born in the village of Ilanga in Honduras in 1933. He was raised primarily by his mother and grandmother – who taught him principles to life that he often spoke about.

He began working at a young age to help support his family and as a young man Dr Sebi moved to the United States. Dr. Sebi’s life story is one of determination, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to natural healing.

In his early thirties, Dr. Sebi was diagnosed with asthma, diabetes, and obesity. He sought medical treatment, but found no relief. It wasn’t until he met a Mexican herbalist (Alfredo Cortez) who healed him using natural remedies (herbs and fasting) that he became interested in natural healing himself.

Dr. Sebi spent many years studying herbs and natural remedies and eventually opening his own healing center in Los Angeles in the 1980s. He believed that the key to good health was to maintain the body’s natural alkaline state, and he developed a unique approach to healing that he called African Biomineral Balance.

Dr. Sebi noted that plants can be categorized as either acidic or alkaline based on their pH level, and that alkaline plants were more beneficial for the body. He discovered that the pH level of plants could determined their beneficial effects and that consuming a diet rich in alkaline, mineral-rich foods could help restore the body’s natural alkaline state, promote healing and prevent disease.

Despite criticism from the medical community, Dr. Sebi remained committed to his approach to healing until his death in 2016. His legacy continues to inspire those who believe in the power of natural remedies and plant-based diets for health and well-being.

Court Case

Dr. Sebi became famous in the 1980s and 1990s for his public claims that he could cure a range of illnesses, including cancer, AIDS, and diabetes, through his unique approach to healing. He placed ads in several media including ‘The Village Voice’ and ‘The Amsterdam News’. At the time his claims were considered highly controversial and drew criticism from the medical community.

In 1987, Dr. Sebi was arrested and charged with practicing medicine without a license in New York City. The charges were brought by the New York Attorney General’s Office, which accused Dr. Sebi of false advertising (making false claims about his ability to cure various illnesses, including cancer, AIDS, and diabetes) and practicing medicine without a license. Dr. Sebi was also charged with selling products that were not approved by the FDA.

Dr. Sebi was able to bring 77 patients to court to testify about their recovery from various illnesses through his approach to healing. While the prosecution argued that his claims were not supported by scientific evidence and that he had no medical qualifications, the defense (Dr. Sebi represented himself) argued that his success in treating patients spoke for itself. Dr. Sebi argued that his products were not medicine but rather natural vegetation cell foods, suitable primarily for the Africans who were taken away from Africa – but as their food were not taken with them – they have not been given their natural food.

Ultimately, Dr. Sebi was found not guilty, and he was able to continue promoting his approach to healing. He was however required to label his products with a disclaimer stating that they were not evaluated by the FDA.

Despite this, his methods remained subject to criticism from the medical community.

The African Biomineral Balance

Dr. Sebi’s approach to healing was based on the idea that the human body is designed to heal itself when given the right conditions. He believed that many illnesses were caused by an accumulation of mucus in the body, which could be eliminated through a strict diet of alkaline, plant-based foods.

He called his approach the African Biomineral Balance, which was based on the dietary practices of ‘original’ traditional African cultures. The diet involved avoiding acidic foods, such as meat, dairy, and processed foods, and instead consuming alkaline foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and grains.

Dr. Sebi also promoted the use of natural alkaline herbs and supplements to support the body’s natural healing process.

Dr. Sebi took healing further by emphasizing that there were natural plants and animals created by life or nature, and there were those that was created by the interference of ‘man’, by using methods such as grafting, hybridization and others. Dr. Sebi noted that there was a distinct difference between the two as man-made plants for example were acidic, while natural plants were usually alkaline. Therefore, differentiating between the plants that were made by ‘man’ and those that came with nature was also a key aspect to healing and maintaining health, as once one could differentiate, then they could chose natural plants, which are usually alkaline.

Methodology

Dr. Sebi’s methodology involved a holistic approach to healing that focused on the body’s natural ability to heal itself. His teachings emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle, as well as the use of natural remedies to support the body’s natural healing process.

His approach also emphasized the importance of detoxifying the body, which he believed was essential for restoring the body’s natural balance. He recommended fasting and consuming natural herbs and supplements to help the body eliminate toxins and restore balance.

Death

Dr. Sebi passed away on August 6, 2016, in Honduras. Dr. Sebi was arrested on May 28, 2016, at the Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport in Honduras for having $37,000 in cash. He was released on bail pending a court hearing but was rearrested on June 3, 2016, by the Ministerio Público and charged with money laundering. Dr. Sebi remained in custody until his mysterious death on August 6, 2016, when he was rushed to a local hospital. His cause of death was reported to be pneumonia. There are however many questions surrounding his death.

Dr. Sebi’s death has sparked a renewed interest in his teachings and approach to healing, and his ideas and methods and promoted are by a growing number of people.

Conclusion

Dr. Sebi’s approach to healing drew both praise and criticism. Most of the criticism came from those in science and medicine who sought to discredit his methods. The effectiveness of Dr. Sebi’s method however, has not only been proven in the courts, but also by the many people who use and testify to the effectiveness of an alkaline diet with natural foods, herbs and fasting. Dr. Sebi continues to inspire people to this day.
